About The Foundation

Mission Statement
The mission of the Hal Sutton Foundation is to create an organization that transcends all racial, economical and political backgrounds in order to focus on the healthcare of children within our community while improving the quality of life for the people living within our community.
Quick Facts
  • Created in the fall of 2001 by 14-Time PGA Champion, Hal Sutton

  • Specific Goal: Meet the unmet healthcare needs of children in our community by establishing a much-needed children’s hospital in the Ark-La-Tex region.

  • Sutton was joined in his efforts by fellow PGA star David Toms, CHRISTUS Schumpert Health System CEO Wayne Sensor and LSU Health Sciences Center.

  • In the Spring of 2002, with this powerful partnership firmly established, the Hal Sutton and David Toms CHRISTUS Schumpert Charity Classic debuted as the main fundraiser for the Hal Sutton Foundation.

  • In an effort to take one step closer to the realization of a children’s hospital, the Hal Sutton Foundation, CHRISTUS Schumpert Health System, and LSU Health Sciences Center introduced The Care Caddy in February of 2004, a collaborative community health initiative targeting at-risk youth.

  • In April of 2006, Sutton Children’s Medical Center opened on the main campus of Christus Schumpert Medical Center. This 106-bed dedicated children’s hospital is a bright, cheerful, non-threatening environment in which children with challenging medical and surgical needs can be treated. The physicians and staff are all trained children’s health specialists who bring a wealth of experience, compassion and commitment to this incredible facility. It is the main focus of the Hal Sutton Foundation to continue to support the Children’s Hospital - financially, emotionally and spiritually.
